the unique natural wealth of the Kalloni Gulf

Welcome to the Kalloni Environmental Information Center

Κέντρο Περιβαλλοντικής Ενημέρωσης Καλλονής

At the Kalloni Environmental Information Center, which is operated by the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, you can learn about the natural wealth of the Kalloni Gulf and the whole island of Lesvos. Both in its premises (permanent exhibition hall, audiovisual hall) and outdoors, in the field, the Center organizes and implements every year a series of activities aiming to inform, entertain and raise awareness on environmental and nature-related issues. Furthermore, the Center coordinates and implements a scientific project of recording and monitoring the biodiversity of the Kalloni Gulf (wetland status, bird populations, etc.) and then promotes their dissemination to the media and the public.
